Andrew Lewis (b. 1963) studied composition with Jonty Harrison at the University of Birmingham, England, where he was one of the founding members of BEAST (the Birmingham ElectroAcoustic Sound Theatre). His music is concerned with the phenomenon of sound as compositional material, and often uses technology in its realisation and performance. It is performed and broadcast internationally, and has won awards in France, Sweden, Austria, Hungary, Brazil, Czech Republic, Argentina and the UK. Andrew Lewis is Professor of Music at Bangor University (Wales) where he directs the Electroacoustic Music Studios. He is married with four grown-up daughters.
