David Fennessy (b. 1976) was born in Ireland and currently lives in Glasgow where he teaches composition at the Royal Conservatory of Scotland. His music has been performed by, amongst others, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Ensemble Modern and the London Sinfonietta. Recent significant works include “Pass the Spoon”, a “sort-of opera” written in collaboration with the English visual artist David Shrigley, “Hauptstimme”, which was premiered by Garth Knox with the Rednote Ensemble at the Huddersfield Festival, and “Sweat of the Sun”, a large scale music theatre work for the 2016 Munich Biennale.
