Indrek Palu (b. 1977) studied jazz violin at the Viljandi Culture Academy and composition at the Estonian Academy of Music. He has worked with electric violin and its technical developments for years. He prefers to use live electronics and prerecorded material during his performances. He has performed as a solo musician and together with well-known jazz and experimental musicians such as Marek Talts, Jorma Toots and Hans-Gunter Lock. More recently, Palu is active as a free improviser and collaborates with flutist Leonora Palu and singer Priit Lehto. After graduating from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Palu continues to compose and he also teaches electronic music and graphic notation at the Pärnu Koidula High School. He often collaborates with artists and choreographers. Artist Janno Bergmann and he completed their “Red & Black” and dancer Kristjan Rohioja collaborates with Palu on a regular basis. Rohioja-Palu collaboration “Electronic City” received the national dance award in 2014.
