Born in Belgrade, Jasna Veličković (b. 1974) is a composer and performer based in Amsterdam. Her works such as “Shadow Studies” and “Ombre… moi non plus” focus on extending the sound of traditional instruments. With compositions like “Last Song” and “Good Bach”, she creates new sound narratives derived from existing music. “Velicon” is Jasna’s most recent performance setup made out of permanent magnets and coils. It is part of her ongoing artistic research, which aims to create tools that facilitate playing on instruments or objects using the transformative acoustic possibilities of the electromagnetic field. Her works have been performed at festivals such as MATA Festival, Biennale Zagreb, Holland Festival, ISCM World Music Days, Sound Disobedience.
