Jukka-Pekka Lehto (b. 1958) initially began composing in earnest in the genre of “easy listening” wind music but gradually adopted a more refined, modernistic musical language. Since 1999, he is a member of the Finnish Composers’ Society. Lehto`s compositions have been performed on all continents and they have received international awards, such as the first prize in Spain in 2009 (at the international composition competition “Ciutat de Betera”), first prize in Riga, Latvia (at “Windstream 2014”) and first prize in the US in 2018 (at the EDR-Foundation competition for piano music). Lehto nowadays addresses the genres of symphonic, chamber and vocal music.
