Onutė Narbutaitė (b. 1956) learned the basics of composition from Bronius Kutavičius. In 1979, she graduated from the Lithuanian State Conservatory (presently the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre), where she studied composition with Prof. Julius Juzeliūnas. In 1997, the composer was awarded the National Arts and Culture Prize, the highest artistic distinction in Lithuania. Her works are constantly performed in concerts and festivals in Lithuania, many European countries, USA and Japan, and are featured on CDs released by Naxos, Finlandia Records, and many other labels.
