Patric Simmerud (b. 1963) graduated in 1999 from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden, where he studied with among others, Sven-David Sandström, Pär Lindgren, Magnus Lindberg and Daniel Börtz. From 1993–1994, his teachers included Jaques Charpentier (Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris) and Ennio Morricone (Fondazione Accademia Chigiana, Siena). He is currently a freelance composer. Since 1993, Simmerud has taken part in contemporary music festivals in Europe as well as in USA and Japan and his music has been performed in concert halls all over the world. Among the better-known ensembles Simmerud has worked with are the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Stockholm Saxophone Quartet, the Emory Wind Ensemble (USA), the Zagreb Saxophone Quartet (Croatia), the Raschèr Saxophone Quartet (USA), the Ensemble Theater am Gleis (Switzerland), the sångsällskapet Orphei Drängar [OD] and the Japanese percussionist Mika Takehara.
