Kristjan Kõrver
The works of composer Kristjan Kõrver (b. 1976) are often said to have a certain unique relationship to the past. Chamber music holds an important place in his oeuvre, in particular his works for Resonabilis, the ensemble that introduced the Estonian chromatic kannel to contemporary music. Kõrver has studied composition and music theory at the Tallinn Georg Ots Music School with Alo Põldmäe. He continued his composition studies at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with Helena Tulve and Eino Tamberg and graduated in 2003. His piece Co participated in the International Rostrum of Composers in Vienna in 2005. In 2013 Kristjan received the annual music award from the Cultural Endowment of Estonia for his chamber opera “Raud-Ants”.
