Age Veeroos

Age Veeroos studied composition at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (EMTA) with Profs. Eino Tamberg and Helena Tulve and at the Karlsruhe Upper Music School with Prof. Wolfgang Rihm. She participated in the IRCAM course, took masterclasses with Salvatore Sciarrino, Georg Friedrich Haas, Betsy Jolas and others, and attended the Acanthes summer school with the guidance of the Arditti Quartet. Her piece I am the big moon on your horizon for percussion, selected by the jury and public vote for the online concert in Brussels (European Orchestra of Contemporary Composers, ECCO), was performed in 2021 by Slagwerk Den Haag. In 2020, Age participated in the composition project 250 piano pieces for Beethoven, which included performances in Germany and recording in the WDR (by Susanne Kessel). Imaginäre Sonate Op. 53 was published in the 9th volume with comments by Rainer Nonnenmann. In 2021 and 2022, her composition ich sehe Federn wachsen im Sand der Wüsten…, which is dedicated to the 100th birthday of Estonian poet Ilmar Laaban, was premiered in Tallinn and Cologne in collaboration with the Ensemble Musikfabrik (cond. Clement Power) & Contemporary Music Festival AFEKT. In 2023, this piece was performed by Ensemble Klangforum Wien (conductor Bas Wiegers) in June in Konzerthaus, Vienna and in Radialsystem, Berlin (conductor Peter Rundel). The same year, Age received the Lepo Sumera composition award. This year she will release an album in collaboration with the Kairos record label.
