Ensemble for New Music Tallinn (ENMT) was founded in 2012 and has become one of the most internationally active contemporary music ensembles in Estonia. Over the past decade, the ensemble has undergone remarkable development and is now recognized as one of the leading contemporary music groups in Northern and Baltic Europe.

ENMT operates with a flexible lineup, serving as an important platform for experiencing new music and expanding opportunities for composers. Throughout its years of activity, the ensemble has introduced audiences to a significant part of contemporary music and has provided composers with the opportunity to premiere their works both locally and internationally. TUMA has established itself as an interpreter of music that blends different intonation systems and media, specializing in contemporary compositions that demand the highest level of technical proficiency. The ensemble’s repertoire includes over a hundred contemporary works, many of which have been composed specifically for ENMT. The number of commissioned pieces has steadily increased each year.

ENMT has performed at prestigious international contemporary music festivals, including “Mixtur” (Barcelona), “Warsaw Autumn,” “CrossRoads” (Salzburg), Ostrava Music Days, “ORF musikprotokoll” (Graz, Austria), “MusicOlomouc” (Czech Republic), “Ars Musica” (Brussels, Austria), “reMusik” (St. Petersburg), “Inner Sound New Arts” (Bucharest, Romania), Baltic Music Days, ISCM World Music Days, and more. The ensemble has also collaborated with Resonanta in Paris, Fylkingen in Stockholm, Korvat Auki in Helsinki, and the FUGA Architecture Museum in Budapest.

Since 2017, the Tallinn New Music Ensemble has been organizing the “SOUND PLASMA” festival, dedicated to alternative intonations, both in Tallinn and in Berlin—one of the most significant centers for contemporary music. The ensemble’s artistic director is composer and conductor Arash Yazdani.
