Momir Novakovic is a Serbian-born classical accordionist based in Estonia. He is recognized as a soloist and chamber musician, performing at various festivals and musical events worldwide. Novakovic serves as the artistic director of the classical accordion festival AccordionFest, which annually brings top accordionists from around the world to Estonia.
He graduated with honors from Serbia’s most prestigious accordion school—Kragujevac Music School, under the guidance of Miljan Bjeletic. He earned his master’s degree at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano, Switzerland, studying with Professor Leslaw Skorski.
Currently, Novakovic teaches accordion at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and Lasnamäe Music School. He has collaborated with numerous contemporary composers, including Wolfgang Rihm, Alisson Kruusmaa, Elo Masing, Mattias Steinhauer, Giovanni Santini, and Alessio Sabella, among others. He has premiered several accordion compositions and is presently focused on enriching Estonia’s classical accordion repertoire.
Novakovic has won over 40 awards at international competitions, with some of his most notable achievements including first prize at the Coupe Mondiale classical accordion competition in Glasgow, Scotland (2008), and second place at the Città di Castelfidardo international accordion competition in Italy.
