Pühavaimu 9, Tallinn, Estonia
The Estonian Centre for Contemporary Music (ECCM) was established in 2021 with the aim of developing and promoting activities in the field of contemporary music. The Centre brings together the most important organizations and entities in Estonia’s contemporary music scene.
The Estonian Centre for Contemporary Music is a partner of Tallinn – UNESCO City of Music. The Centre has become a vital platform and support structure for innovation and development in the contemporary music field. For the first time since Estonia’s re-independence, it offers professional freelance musicians in the contemporary and experimental music scene free, permanent rehearsal and performance spaces.
It also serves as an essential everyday working environment for contemporary music ensembles such as Ensemble U:, TUMA, and EMA. The Centre offers non-formal education in contemporary and electronic music for school students, and organizes seminars, workshops, and continuing education for adults and professionals in the field.
The Centre actively supports the internationalization of Estonian contemporary music creators, performers, and ensembles, fostering connections and improving opportunities for participating in international cultural life. In the spring, a three-year Estonian focus program was launched through a partnership agreement with one of Europe’s leading festivals for contemporary music, the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (HCMF).
The Centre is led by Managing Director Taavi Kerikmäe and Development Director Maria Hansar.
